Li River Guilin and Cruises

Li River is a bright pearl on the list of China‘s tourist attractions and it is the highlight of sightseeing tour in Guilin. A poem says," The river is a green silk ribbon, and the hills look like jade hair-pins". About Li River
Li River has been ever named as Gui Water, Gui River and East River in history. It passes through Guilin---the third largest city and the political, economic, transport, cultural and tourist center of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Because of the unique and beautiful natural scenery---Guilin Landscape gestated in this drainage area, Guilin is famous for its beautiful scenery, green mountains, clear water, spectacular caves and pretty rocks and has become a nice place of interest popular both at home and abroad.

Li River belongs to the upriver reach of Gui River which is a part of the Pear River water system and originates from the south side of the 2000ms high Mountain Mao'er, Yuecheng Mountain Range which is the common boundary of Xing’an and Ziyuan county. Li River winds its way southeast for about 437 km, passing through Guilin, Yangshuo, Pingle, Zhaoping and finally meets Xi River in Wulin. It boasts the largest and most beautiful scenic area in China and attracts thousands of visitors.

The climate there is mild subtropical. Li River has rich natural landscapes. As early as the South Song Dynasty, Guilin has long laid claim to having the most beautiful landscape under heaven. A lot of excellent poems and literary works in modern or ancient appreciated the beauty of this charming river lingered in the south China for its long history and civilization. "Beautiful landscape is mellow and sweet wine that makes visitors drunk, sip and drink it, there comes a poem in heart" is the praise given by numerous visitors.

The 83kms reach between Guilin and Yangshuo which is also called "Li River Highlight Tour" is full of nice sceneries such as deep pool, dangerous shoal and wonderful spring and fall. The scenery area now has 179 economical or luxury cruise boats which are all air-conditioned. Among them, there are 97 boats were awarded "Civilization Route" "Youth civilization" by Guilin city, municipality, Ministry of Communications and the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee. The new established Mopanshan Dock which costs over 20 million yuan is a window of Guilin open to the world. It is 28 kilometers away from Guilin and gained its name for being close to the Mopanshan mountain. The dock covers 233350 square meters with sufficient supporting facilities. There are five waiting rooms including one for handicapped, three for common passengers and one for VIP. It adopts gardening design and is combined with the landscape.

In November of 1982, Li River was listed as the first" National Key Places of Interests" by the State Council, which required emphasized protection. In December of 1991, Li River ranked second on the list of "top 40 scenic spots in the country" which was publicized by Tourism Administration of China. In November of 1996, Li River was listed as one of 13 National Special Protected Rivers. In April of 1997, Guilin---Yangshuo course was awarded "Guangxi Waterage Civilization Route" by municipality. In December of 1998, Guilin---Yangshuo course was awarded "province department level Civilization Route" by Spiritual Civilization Construction Committee of Municipality; Mopanshan Dock was awarded the price of "province department level First Rate Civilization Dock", Zhujiang Dock was awarded the price of "province department level Third Rate Civilization Dock". Li River was evaluated as 4A state level sceneries in China by Tourism Administration of China. In January of 2001, Li River course which is called as" golden course" was evaluated as "province department level Civilization Route" by Chinese Communication Corporation Administration Association Tourist Waterage Board. In April of 2004, Li River Tourist Administration which was managed by Communication Administration of Guilin passed ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSASI8001 certificate successfully.
